What’s up (or down) with these interest rates?
Interest rates have gone down again to the surprise of most market watchers. Home prices are rising at a slower rate as well, making home purchasing a more viable option for many by giving buyers more purchasing power.
It’s also a good time to look at refinancing if your mortgage rate is over 4.5%. We can connect you with a number of excellent mortgage specialists who can help you evaluate the right option for you!
What’s behind these mortgage rates?
The 10 year treasury yield has been declining, now below the 3 month yields. This causes an inverted yield curve, which normally indicates an impending recession. There is a bigger discussion going on as to whether the changes to the 10 year treasury yield are pointing toward a recession. If you’re wondering what all of this means, here’s an article that explains it.
News and Tips
Have you ever had a bill from Xcel that was less than $14?
Many of you know the Dunn household went solar late last year. Just like the rest of you we wondered if our investment would actually have a solid return. We were excitedly waiting for our energy bills to arrive. In April, we were shocked when our bill was only $52 and most of that was for gas (we love to use our gas fireplace!). We thought maybe there was a mistake so we didn’t want to get too excited. But then the May bill arrived and it was $13.52!! On top of that, we received a federal tax rebate of 30% of our investment. 2019 is looking to be the last year for that rebate, so if you are at all interested in seeing if solar is right for you, let us know and we will connect you to the experts who helped us.
